These days, we just simply can’t imagine our lives without a smartphone as we tend to do almost everything with our phone only. What if you lost your phone somewhere? Well if you lose your phone at home then you can easily find it by ringing the phone but it becomes a problem if you lose it outside your home or it got stolen somewhere. Earlier this used to be great trouble but after so much evolution, this is not a problem anymore. Find My Device feature is a solution to this problem of yours.

With Find My Device feature, you guys will be able to easily locate your device and it also gives you an ability to lock your device and even erase the complete data. Isn’t that amazing? The feature is quite amazing but there are several things that needs to be there because only then you will be able to use this feature. Those pre-requisites are –

  1. The first major thing here is that your phone needs to be turned on because only then you will be able to use this feature.
  2. Along with this, you must have signed in to your Google account on your smartphone and it needs to have an active internet connection.
  3. Last and the most important thing is that you should have turned on both the location setting of your device and Find My Device feature.

Steps through which Users can locate there device by using Find my device feature–

Now comes the steps through which you guys will be able to easily locate your device through Find my Device feature –

  1. Here your first step will be to open android.com/find from the browser and sign in to your Google account which is the same as the one that is there in your lost smartphone.
  2. After signing in, you will the icon of your phone on the top left corner of the screen. Click on that and it will show you complete details about your phone and when it was online.
  3. Now it will show you the location of your smartphone on the map so that you can easily locate it. In case you are unable to see the current location, it will show you the most recent one.
  4. Now go to the location shown by the map and then click on the Play Sound option. Through this option, your phone will ring continuously for five minutes even if it is on silent.
  5. In case you are unable to locate it instantly, you can choose to lock and secure your device. There is a Secure Device option that will instantly lock your smartphone and will also sign out from your Google account.
  6. You can also create a message for the finder along with your phone number. This message will display on the screen so that anyone who finds your phone can contact you.
  7. The last option is to erase all your data from the device. If other options does not work, then you can choose the “Erase Device” option and this will delete complete data from your smartphone so that any of your data is not compromised if your device is stolen.
